Areas of Learning

An insight into our Area of Learning

The role of preschool education is to prepare children for the journey of life-long learning. For such a sure start to be realized, a major aim of preschool education is to support and foster the holistic development of the child. This involves the nurturing and acceptance of young children’s spontaneous, natural and varied responses to the wealth and richness of experiences and opportunities the child is likely to encounter on the learning journey.

A Preschool curriculum typically defines a sequence of integrated experiences, interactions, and activities to help young children reach specific learning goals. A curriculum framework provides general guidance on planning the learning environments and experiences for young children.

A well defined curriculum is extremely important for a preschool as the ages between the 0-6 years is probably the most important years in any individual’s life.

We see your child as an energetic learner, who is trying to make sense of the world around him. A leaf, an ant, or a rock can be a source of inspiration, creativity, and education. Our Curriculum focuses on five specific domains of early learning that encourage your child’s natural tendency to explore and imagine while also helping him to stretch his mind.

Five specific domains of early learning are

  • 1. Personality- self discipline, independence, social interactions, practical life & more
  • 2. Sensomotor skills (gross motor , fine motor , sensorial)
  • 3. Cognitive skills (logical thinking, Reasoning abilities, scientific judgement etc),
  • 4. Language (listening , speaking, reading, writing & comprehension)
  • 5. Math development (Counting, Numeric place values, basic fundamentals understanding etc)

Our youngest children begin to “write” their thoughts and feelings as they practice on writing stencils and sand paper alphabet. Children learn number and spatial relationships when they count and sort shapes using our Montessori materials. A rich vocabulary is the foundation for success in learning to read, write, and even understanding mathematical concepts. Recent research supports that when we hold conversations with our children in a “serve and return” manner, their vocabulary expands exponentially. AITTA Preschool Solutions agree that learning to read and write is “much more than the ABC”. And understanding mathematics is more than adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Starting with AITTA Preschool Solutions , your child receives explicit instruction in reading, writing, and math readiness skills using high quality research-based educational material supported activities. Our early childhood education specialists carefully select programs and design lessons that match Our Balanced Philosophy, Early Learning Standards, and Learning Outcomes for these domains. A curriculum is designed to help the teachers and children to give and receive respectively, quality education in a structured format to enable both the teacher and learner to achieve the age appropriate goals.p>

Language

Children between 2 to 6 years are in a period where they explode into language. Therefore, the classroom is a very rich environment for developing the language competence through conversations, rhymes, poetry, stories, language cards, word games, and many others, which assist the growth of literacy.

In Montessori, the ability to write comes before reading. Children learn to write from the simple arm movements and coordination exercises before moving to the handwriting skills. Many of the Practical Life activities serve for this purpose. They learn to read by recognizing the phonetic sounds. AITTA Preschool Solutions prepares children from building words to creative writing.

Mathematics

AITTA Preschool Solutions prepares mathematics materials to stimulate the child’s curiosity towards numbers. We introduce the concepts of big and small, tall and short, comparison, grading and grouping as well as the perception of dimension from concrete to abstract. As always, we use concrete materials as a start of the knowledge, and as sense perceptions as well, to understand the mathematical concept. In this way, children get a clear understanding of quantity and sequence.

In higher grade, AITTA Preschool Solutions helps children to learn arithmetic such as the operation of addition and subtraction, even multiplication and division at their level. Like other Montessori materials, the program respect the fact that a child is unique one to another, and will progress through his/her own way. The exercise is prepared from easy to difficult to ease the child’s abilities of learning and practicing, while at the same time, not eliminating their enthusiasm for exploration and repetition of the subject being learned.

Cognitive Activities

We introduce the children with activities that allow them to be fed in their natural curiosity. The materials will do as opportunities to expand their abilities to focus and think: like identifying an object, matching, sorting, tracking a moving object and developing size and shape, that later progress according to the child’s development and abilities. Even for the youngest, we will invite them to get and return the material to its place. So the pattern of doing the same way will be carried on while they are still in unconscious absorbent. This lays the foundation of the logical thought of ordering for an accomplishment.

Motor Activities

Babies and toddlers are in the rapid development of their motor skills. As they are, they can access the open space room where the needs for movement for their physical growth are facilitated. Movement and coordination are also exercised through music and movement, art activities, and many other activities suitable at their age. By allowing children to explore and do self-initiated activities, independence and self confidence develop.

Practical Life Activities

They are simple activities that adults perform daily. The activities relate to the physical and social development, which stress more on the process rather than the end-result.

The aims are primarily to develop independence, self-discipline concentration, and motor skills coordination without ignoring other aspects of development such as the language and intelligence. Independence and self-discipline do not come automatically but must be learned to set a pattern of good work habits and a sense of responsibility. We allow the child to experience success at early age to build up a positive self-image which leads the child to take the next task with confidence.

Social aspect is highly respected in Montessori environment. The learning of a younger from the bigger, and the model of the bigger towards the younger are the beautiful seeing environment in the Montessori classroom in any tasks. This gives them the opportunity how to care for themselves, between the young and the old ones within their small community, the same way as family consists of differing ages. Thus, the awareness of being sociable has sparked even to the little ones.

Sensory Activities

The child gathers impressions of his outer world by means of his senses. The organs he uses for this purpose are his eyes, ears, and hands, as well as the organs of touch and smell.

Preschoolers need to have opportunities to use all their senses: the sense of sight, touch, hearing, smell, taste, kinaesthetic, stereognostic, thermic, baric, and pain as it allows them to refine their senses, and form sense perceptions through experiences and exercises. By manipulating the sensorial materials children learn about their world both sensorially and culturally. It also prepares preschoolers for mastering the many skills they will need for later study of mathematics, reading, writing, science, etc.

Culture & Science

Aimed to bring in interesting “nature” to children, we introduce cultural study in this early ages including: Geography, Botany, Zoology, History and Science. As the member of the world, it is important that children learn about their world and how to care for.

We introduce the basic knowledge like element of air, land and water and the features of those physical elements in Geography. Through History they examine their own time line within the bound of time. To invite their loving towards living things around, children learn about plants and animals through Botany and Zoology. In Science, they do experiments, focussing on the “why” in relation to the study of geography, botany, zoology and history. We encourage the children to clarify the question, examine the evidence, to finally draw a conclusion.

Presentation of real materials, as well as outings, will keep children in touch with nature directly, while at the same time nurturing their curiosity towards the environment and its culture.

Music, Arts, & Creativity

Infant brains are sensitive and responsive towards musical sounds. Studies indicate that exposure to music-listening, learning and playing music do have beneficial effects for preschoolers to release their stress and having creative self-expression. Games and listening activities will take parts as well. Some studying of pitch, rhythm, movement and also silent games are taught here.

In art, Montessori does not limit the child’s capacity to explore his or her art abilities. All classes in AITTA Preschool Solutions Montessori School set up with art corner that allows children to do art and exploration as they wish. We also provide special class to those interested to do more in music and movement as well as art, like painting, drawing, singing , dancing, etc.
